Vienna Beef's all-beef hot dog, nestled in a poppy seed bun, and loaded with toppings is a flavor combination that can't be beat! But remember the number one rule: Chicagoans don't add ketchup. Ever.

This Vienna Beef Hot Dog Kit includes:

  • 10 Vienna hot dogs
  • 10 poppy seed buns
  • 9 oz. of yellow mustard
  • 6 oz. of bright green relish
  • 6 oz. of spicy sport peppers
  • Celery salt
Cooking the hot dogs:
-Fill a 4-quart pot with one and a half quarts of water (48 ounces).
-Bring the water to a boil, turn the water down until it stops boiling, or a slight simmer. (DO NOT COOK HOT DOGS IN BOILING WATER).
-Place desired number of hot dogs into water and cook uncovered for 20 minutes.

Steam the hot dog buns:
-Do not steam buns until hot dogs have cooked for 20 minutes
-Place package of hot dog buns into a microwave. (If fewer buns are desired, put them into a plastic bag and loosely close bag)
-Heat buns on high for 2 to 2 ½ minutes. (If fewer buns are desired, heat for 45-60 seconds)
-Be cautious when opening, escaping steam and hot dog buns will be extremely hot.

Nestle the hot dog in a steamed poppy seed bun. Then pile on the toppings in this order:

1) Yellow Mustard
2) Bright Green Relish
3) Fresh Chopped Onion*
4) Two Tomato Wedges*
5) A Kosher Pickle Spear*
6) Two Sport Peppers
7) A Dash of Celery Salt

    Vienna Hot Dogs

    Living in the East Coast now I always say Chicago Hot Dogs are the best!!!! Thank Taste of Chicago for these offers..Love it and enjoying the taste of chi-town again!!!!!!

    Yummy

    Everything was delicious. Buns were soft, hot dogs were perfect, and all the extras were as they would be in a hot dog place in Chicago.

    Amazing

    My husband is from Chicago and here in Texas you can't find the hot dogs or the buns so for valentines I bought him the Vienna Hot Dog kit and he was in heaven. Over 3 days he ate 6 Chicago style hot dogs. He said that's about as close as you can get with out being there in person getting it. I would recommend this kit to anyone looking for Chicago dogs.

    Not worth the money

    I was actually very disappointed in the Vienna hot dog kit that I ordered. First, when I opened the packaging the celery salt container was smashed and the salt was everywhere. Why would you not pack some padding around that given it is being shipped with other, frozen, hard objects? Secondly I was extremely disappointed to discover that the relish and sport peppers were not the Vienna jars I used to see in the grocery store, but instead were single-use packages containing just enough for the 10 hot dogs and nothing more. For the price I assumed I would at least get what I could otherwise buy in a local Chicago grocery store. I think you need to do a better job of telling people what they are getting for the fairly outrageous price of $60.
